Built from the Ground Up
It all began 42+ years ago when Terry Martin, the founder of Total Landscape & Irrigation, LLC (TLI), started landscaping to help pay his way through LSU. What started with simple sod installation soon grew into a passion for complete landscape design—including maintenance, irrigation, lighting, and drainage.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Psychology, Terry continued on to LSU Medical School. But even as a med student, he worked nearly full-time in landscaping to support himself. When his path in medicine didn’t pan out as expected, he returned to what he truly loved: transforming outdoor spaces.
In 1993, Terry committed full-time to building his business. By 2000, he joined his brother Tim—a U.S. Marine and owner of Pro “T” Landscaping—where he served as head supervisor for over eight years. All the while, he quietly kept his own dream alive, maintaining Total Landscape & Irrigation in the background.
After Hurricane Katrina and the economic downturn took a toll, Terry decided in 2009 to fully reignite his own company. Since then, Total Landscape & Irrigation has continued to grow—rooted in experience, resilience, and a true love for the work.
